Key requirements
- An IPL holder may request of the State Board of Education an extension of time to complete licensure requirements for the purposes of converting an IPL to a CPL.
- The State Board of Education shall make a decision whether to grant the requested extension based on the IPL holder's extenuating circumstances unless otherwise prohibited by state or federal law.
- 'Extenuating circumstances' means the illness or physical disability of the teacher; the death or catastrophic illness of a member of the teacher's immediate family; or other unforeseeable emergencies, beyond the reasonable control of the teacher, that have a direct and immediate impact on the teacher's ability to complete the licensure requirements.
